After a fire at an entrance table, a large European airport was forced to close parts of its terminal.
According to Vars News, part of the Milan Malnsa Airport Terminal was subsequently closed.
The passengers were queuing outside the building because the emergency crew worked to fight the flames that filled the terminal with thick smoke.
According to local reports, the man damaged the check tables and the information screen with a hammer after the first fire on the trash.
According to Corriere Di Novara, the suspect adjusted the fire using a flammable liquid.
“A maritime employee noticed the increase in smoke and intervened while he was removing the screen between the 12 and 13 tables,” Vars News added.
Border police officers arrived soon and restrained the man, while ICTS airport security staff worked to expel flames.
The interventionist marine employee was injured and treated by emergency medical services.
The hammer is taken by polar officers, who are currently investigating the incident and the invading motives.
