Britain sends military equipment to Belgium amid drone sightings

Britain is supporting Belgium with military equipment and personnel after sightings of drones near airports and military bases led to a temporary shutdown of operations this week.

Richard Knighton, the head of the British Armed Forces, told the BBC: “The Defense Secretary and I agreed at the end of last week to deploy our men and equipment to help them in Belgium.

He did not explain the details of the support provided. Knight said the actors behind the drones were still unclear, but noted Russia’s increased use of “hybrid warfare” in recent years.

Germany’s defense minister said the drone sighting in Belgium was linked to threats to use billions of dollars in frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.

“So far, no substantive response has been received from Washington. We were told through diplomatic channels that ‘the matter is under consideration,'” Lavrov told RYANVOSTI.
