An Air Force veteran has tragically died after being caught in an email machine at a USPS warehouse in Allen Park, 12 miles outside of Detroit.
The remains of Nicholas John Acker, 36, were stuck in the machine for six to eight hours before the Allen Park Fire Department arrived at the center on Saturday. Just ten days before his gruesome death, Acker had proposed to his partner, Stephanie Yass.
According to Click on Detroit, Jasch waited for hours at the USPS facility because her fiancee failed to return home after her shift.
He told the broadcaster that Acker had worked as a mechanic at the warehouse for more than a year and had served in the Air Force for nearly nine years.
Allen Park Police Detective Lt. Jason Dabertin later discovered Ecker’s remains and his death is not being treated as suspicious. Detroit Free Press.
Authorities have not yet released further details about Acker’s death, and an investigation into how he fell into the machine is ongoing.
Yasch has since strongly condemned the comments by her husband’s former employer, the USPS, calling them “cruel” and “inhumane.”
“The US Postal Service is deeply saddened by the loss of our employee at the Detroit Network Distribution Center (NDC) in Allen Park, MI,” read a USPS statement seen by Click Detroit. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. NDC is fully active at this time.
Jas exasperated by saying, “Is the mail still moving?” did he answer Gross, according to Click on Detroit.
“Sorry about the loss, but the mail is still moving,” he continued. “They couldn’t even say his name or acknowledge that he was an Air Force veteran.
“A man is gone. A veteran. A husband. A human being. And all you can think about is that the letters keep moving? Inhuman. It’s unpleasant.”
Acker’s obituary said she was born in Dearborn, Michigan and moved to Trenton, where she lived with her fiancé. His funeral will be held on Friday and after the visitation on Thursday.
In the meantime, Yas wants to release more information about her husband’s horrible death.
“We want to know what happened and how long he was there,” he told Click Detroit. This is what we want to know.
“We want to know how he got there and why no one knows where he was?”
