The LEGO World Cup was announced as part of the FIFA partnership

LEGO is launching a life-size soccer World Cup made from 2,842 LEGO bricks.

The toy giant teamed up with FIFA on Wednesday to unveil a product that will launch the classic Danish toy brand’s first World Cup series next year.

The Lego version of the trophy, first introduced at the 1974 World Cup, will be the exact same height of 36.8 cm (14 ½ inches).

But the Lego brick cup will be plastic instead of solid 18-carat gold and malachite green, and it’s easier to pick up than the original 6.175 kg (13.6 lb) weight.

It will go on sale in March for $200 and includes “a secret scene that can be opened via a retractable slide at the top of the sphere,” Lego said in a statement.

It is currently available for pre-order on the Lego website with a limit of three per customer.

FIFA holds the main trophy in Zurich.

The first men’s World Cup will begin on June 11 with the participation of 48 teams, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The draw will be made Friday at the Kennedy Center to divide the 48-team field into 12 groups of four.

Once the tournament begins, 32 teams from those qualifying groups will advance to the single-elimination knockout round.

The 12 groups of the second round of the World Cup have been determined in group A, group B… and so on until group L.

Match venues and times have been confirmed for Saturday, although match dates for the three host nations have already been confirmed.
