Upset because Homanay was cancelled
Organizers of Edinburgh’s Hogman’s Day have apologized to tourists who traveled to the Scottish capital for midnight fireworks.
An Indian tourist who traveled to Edinburgh with his wife and four children for the celebrations told Good Morning Britain they were “very disappointed”.
He added: We were in London and we came here only for Hogmanay.
Another visitor described the decision as “heartbreaking”, while his travel companion added: “It’s very disappointing. We’re trying to find another job but we’re completely clueless.
Scottish Culture Secretary Angus Robertson defended the “undoubtedly” right decision to cancel.
He told Radio 4’s Today programme: “The organizers believe they decided too early because they wanted to be able to connect with people who are traveling now.
I stress that while it is very disappointing that the planned events on Princes Street, in the Old Town, next to the castle, the Texas concert etc., there will be a lot going on in Edinburgh.
There will be all kinds of events, pubs and clubs will be open.
I’m really sorry for everyone who’s been travelling, but I don’t think it’s the right thing to do with the weather forecast – it’s really, really bad in some parts of the country – to go on.

Daryl Fleming – The man behind London’s New Year’s Eve spectacle has been monitoring the weather for the past seven days to make the event “as safe as possible”.

“The wind is in the right direction, and if we need to limit parts of the show, we can do that, we have all those plans in place,” he adds.
We don’t have big big skins that have a lot of chance of getting out of the show.
“From a broadcast standpoint, no one will really notice the difference and everyone will still enjoy the show.”
