First -year doctors in the UK have voted for their strike.
The British Medical Association (BMA) said that the voting of physicians residing in the first year (or 3,950) voted for a strike on the participation of 65 % and provides “a task for industrial measures along with disputes related to erosion payment”.
According to the union, 34 % of the doctors in the resident said they had no basic employment or regular job since August 2025.
This increased to more than half (52 %) among FY2 physicians (two years).
BMA said no strike is currently planned, but current negotiations with the government on payment “must now have a solution for jobs as well as 21 % of physicians residing in erosion since 2008 to prevent future actions.”
Responding to the announcement, Jack Fellcher, head of the Doctors Committee (RDC), said: “The outcome of today’s voting is making it clear that the government now has to reach the page.
“Doctors have [today] Clearly speaks: they do not accept that when demand for physicians is too high, they are confronted with insecurity. However, successive governments have failed to embrace the changes that both doctors and patients cry.
“We do not want to strike, but if we remain a solution. The government has the power to end both of these differences: it has to take advantage of the opportunity to make the changes that are desperately needed.”
