Finier cancels 70 flights due to the union strike

Finland’s largest Airlines has canceled about 70 flights tomorrow due to industrial action by trade unions at Helsinki Airport.

It is estimated that these termination affects about 6,500 Finier passengers. The airline offers an alternative flight to the affected customers in a travel update.

Three parts of the Finnish Airlines Union (IAU) and the Finnish Transportation Workers’ Union (AKT) intend to strike on March 27 for two hours between 2 and 4 pm local time.

Cancelled leave from Helsinki Airport to the UK includes flights to 7.50 in the morning, 2pm and 4pm to London Hitro, 4.10 pm to Manchester and 4.55 pm to Edinburgh. The arrival of Helsinki from the UK includes 3.15 pm from London Heatro.

“The impact of these industrial measures on our customers is irrational – about 6,500 customers need to change their travel plans when canceling the flight,” said Jaakko Schildt.

The demonstration will affect the performance of Helsinki Airport, including checks, luggage handling and other ground services.

Customers can cancel their reservation and apply for an unused ticket.

If the flight is lost in the same ticket, the airline will re -pay its customers in a new flight.

To connect flights from Helsinki, passengers can check the real -time situation on the aircraft.

Airlines recommends packing the most important items such as medicines in the luggage.

“We are very sorry for the change in customer travel plans due to this situation. We will wait for our customers and we will do our best to make sure that customers can do their travel plans despite this unfortunate situation,” Shield added.

AKT says the two -hour strike is to take a stance on the role of government ownership control in Finer.

“The protest is particularly motivated by the fact that the company’s board of directors has been proposed to increase by about 30-45 percent over two years,” the union said.

“Finier is a majority state -owned company because the government holds more than half of Finer’s shares. This means that the Secretary of State and the leadership of Jukimstrand’s ownership has the right to block the reward if they wish.”

“We see the increase in the Finer’s board of directors as irrational,” said Asho Coco, the AKT president.

IAU said it has planned its planning for an hour before and after the annual public meeting of Finer, which includes an increase in the salaries of the company’s board of directors at 11 to 23 percent.

“As a shareholder of the majority of the company, the government has the opportunity to boost irrational increase,” IAU said.

Finier has experienced recent important industrial measures, including the cancellation of about 300 flights two weeks before Christmas strike by the Finnish Air Pilot Association.
