Firefighters fight with massive fire at Rushden

Firefighters are countering a huge fire that can be seen 10 miles away.

Eight crews were summoned to the Sanders Lodge Industrial Property at Rushden, Northamptonshire at 6.30 in the morning.

The local roads are closed and people have reported that they see thick smoke in the air.

“We are currently participating in a fire in the Sanders Lodge Industrial Property in Rushden,” said Northaptonshire Fire and Rescue Service.

“Please if you can avoid the area while our emergency services are dealing with this event.”

The smoke from Harold and Sharnbrook is seen in Bedfordshire, the local fire service said.

In a statement about X, which was previously Twitter, the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “There has been a major accident in Recheny (north) and smoke can be seen from Harold and Shanbrook areas.

“If you see smoke, you don’t need to call 999 – emergency services are aware and deal with the incident.”

Northaptonshire police have been forced to close a large road

“Because of the large fire, the A5001 Wellingborough road on Rushden is now closed to allow the crew to fix the fire,” the force said.

Social media shared movies show firefighters trying to create widespread fires.
