Garmin’s online service is down and its smart watches and other products are unable to work properly.
The online platform, known as Connect, is heavily reliant on its products. That way, while the company’s hardware can still work on its own, it can’t turn data on or off, and users can’t view their data in the company’s app.
The company’s official status page revealed that all of its online functions — from deleting the watch’s activities to putting tracks on it, as well as syncing with third-party services like Strava — are offline. He did not give any indication of the reason and time of their return.
It also said its online services outside of Connect, such as its indoor training platform Tacx and its golf and diving tools, were also down.
Garmin devices store their data offline, and everything tracked during an outage should be ready to upload when those systems come back online.
Garmin’s most significant outage — and one of the most prominent outages of the decade — came in 2020, when the entire company was attacked by ransomware. It went on for days, breaking key functions of its products and also causing it to lose access to its servers.
This time there is nothing to indicate similar problems.
