The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have asked Californians to open their homes to fire victims after opening their Montecito mansion to friends who were forced to flee.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have issued an official statement regarding the wave of devastating fires that continue to rage across Los Angeles.
It suggests ways in which people can rally around those displaced by the flames, including by opening their homes to shelter victims.
“If a friend, loved one or pet has to evacuate and you can provide them with a safe haven in your home, please do so,” said a statement posted on their official website Thursday. And be sure to check with disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating.
They also offer “donations of children’s clothing, toys and clothing, and other necessities” to the American Red Cross.
The statement follows a number of organizations seeking support for those affected by the fire, including Chef Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen, the Los Angeles Fire Foundation and the Animal Health Foundation.
According to reports, the Duke and Duchess themselves have moved to support their neighbors in need, opening their doors to friends and loved ones affected by the disaster.
The couple lives near Montecito, Calif., where they are at risk of evacuation and possible power outages.
They are also believed to have donated clothes, children’s toys and other items themselves to those affected by the fire and are working with staff at their Archewell Foundation to support the community.

Harry and Meghan’s statement continued: “Over the past few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods, destroying families, homes, schools, medical care facilities and more – affecting tens of thousands of people from all walks of life. has placed

Wildfires that have killed five people and forced more than 70,000 people from their homes are raging across Los Angeles County, fueled by high winds.
The Palisades, Eaton and Hurst fires erupted Tuesday, while two other fires — the Tyler and Woodley fires — ignited Wednesday. A state of emergency has been declared in this city.
Among the thousands who lost their homes are celebrities including Billy Crystal, Anthony Hopkins, Anna Faris and Eugene Levy.
“Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing,” Crystal said in a joint statement with her wife, Janice. Janice and I lived in our house since 1979. We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every part of our house was full of love. Beautiful memories that cannot be destroyed. Earlier today, Jamie Lee Curtis announced a $1 million donation to support the Firefighters Relief Fund.
Announcing the donation, Curtis wrote on Instagram: “While the fire continues to burn and @calfire @losangelesfiredepartment and all the first responders and agencies involved in fighting the fire and saving lives continue to work hard and neighbors and friends are gathering for rescue. My husband and I and our children have pledged $1 million from our family foundation to each other to start an endowment fund for our great city and state and the great people who live and love it.
