Ivanka Trump’s inauguration appearance at Oscar de la Renta’s inauguration sparked a boycott

Fashion fans are planning to boycott Oscar de la Renta after designers dressed Ivanka Trump for an inaugural dinner ahead of her father’s inauguration on Monday (January 20).

On Instagram, the brand boasted of dressing Donald Trump’s daughter in a pearl-and-crystal-embroidered empire waist dress, prompting many followers to express their sudden distaste.

Alongside a carousel of photos of Ivanka, 43, commenters declared she was “done” with Oscar de la Renta.

“Oh ok so we’re done with odlr,” wrote one, while another added: “ODLR has sold its soul. Unsubscribe.”

A third added: “Unfortunately it’s done with odlr.

A fourth wrote: “It is not the most proud day of the house.

More people went on to say the house had “lost it” and said the move to dress Ivanka was “shameful” and inexcusable. Unfollow after 8 to 10 years. Loved your content but this is unacceptable. Goodbye,” wrote one person.

Ivanka’s opening night dress wasn’t the first Oscar de la Renta dress she wore that day.

Earlier on Sunday, Ivanka stepped out in a camel ensemble with floral embellishments, brown boots and matching gloves designed by the house for a wreath-laying ceremony held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

Underneath her Instagram photos, fans slammed the brand for “dressing these people.”

Oh no, we don’t normalize any of this. One person wrote, while another said: “Yes. You are wearing the clothes of all magas.

Ivanka wasn’t the only one wearing Oscar Della Renta on Sunday. Usha Vance, wife of incoming Vice President JD Vance, attended the Vice President’s Dinner in a “custom noir velvet dress with asymmetrical floral accents and sweetheart neckline” designed by the house.

Meanwhile, soon-to-be-second first lady Melania Trump made a bold statement, teaming up with Adam Lipps, who was one of the youngest creative directors under Oscar de la Renta from 1996 to 2003. Fame came, he became a partner.

Melania arrived at the White House for Monday’s inauguration wearing a navy button-up coat with an ivory collar and a tall Eric Javits hat that carefully shielded her eyes from cameras.
