Clubs across the continent are in the January transfer market as they look to strengthen their squads for the second half of the 2024/25 season with titles, European football and survival.
Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are all rumored to be interested in the Premier League, while the future could see big exits with Trent Alexander-Arnold in talks over a possible free transfer to Real Madrid and Manchester United. Marcus Rashford sale Randall Kolo Mwani is said to be one of the options for United, who look set to miss out on Victor Giocres this month, while they are also keen on Paris Saint-Germain left-back Nuno Mendes, but could shockingly sign Kobi Maino. As a ring Chelsea lose.
One of the more intriguing sagas is the fate of Dani Olmo, which may be left in limbo, Barcelona’s failure to re-sign him. The Spanish giants are struggling with La Liga over finances which could mean Olmo has to find a new club and there are plenty of teams including Arsenal and Chelsea monitoring the situation.
And in the rest of England’s top leagues, clubs are sticking to PSR rules and tight budgets as they look to find cheap deals to bolster their squads.

Manchester United is facing obstacles in pursuit of the main transfer target of Nuno Mendes
Manchester United need to sell to meet Paris Saint-Germain’s €60m valuation of Nuno Mendes, and Ruben Amorim and the new INEOS leadership are keen to initiate a major overhaul.
The 22-year-old left-back has been touted as a key first signing to bring balance to the squad, but the Old Trafford hierarchy are currently tight-lipped on a wage offer as well as a transfer fee.
The situation shows just how difficult this crucial first window is for Amorim, with many at United openly talking about how much business needs to be done but how much money there is to spend amid the constraints of the Profit and Sustainability Act. The club has basically announced that it will listen to offers for almost any player, including popular domestic talents like Coby Maino and Alejandro Garnacho. Such reports have dominated the first few days of the window and only show how bad the situation is.

The Daily Mail report that despite Maino having two-and-a-half years left on his current deal, talks over a new contract between the midfielder and the Old Trafford hierarchy have stalled.
If United sell the player, it will be financially beneficial as the proceeds from the sale will be reduced in the accounts as a net profit.
Fans won’t be happy as Maino is a homegrown talent who broke into the first team under Erik ten Hoag and has continued to impress.
