Paltons Park has announced the launch date for a new Viking-themed world

Paultons Park has announced the opening date for a £12 million Viking-themed development with two new thrill rides.

The Hampshire-based family theme park has announced its biggest investment to date and is preparing to open ‘Valgard: Viking Realm’ aimed at older children and teenagers.

The new section, planned for May 2026, will feature Paultons Park’s first inverted roller coaster, ‘Drakon’, which is billed as the attraction’s most thrilling ride. It has a long vertical lift hill and two inverted turns.

Another thrilling ride called “Wild Swing” will also be launched, which will send riders up to 12 meters in the air.

In addition to the new rides, the family favorite Cobra will be transformed into a Babylon adventure, renamed Raven.

A large Nordic-themed restaurant and a new playground for young visitors will also be installed.

A third water-based ride will be added to the Immersive World by 2027 after Valguard opens to visitors.

The area will open adjacent to the Lost Kingdom section of Paltons Park, with an opening date of May 2026 yet to be announced.

Paltons Park, near the New Forest in Hampshire, has been owned and run by the Munsey family since 1983.

“We are thrilled to share our plans for our largest and boldest investment to date,” said James Mansey, Executive Vice President.

As an independent, family-owned theme park, we take great pride in the investments we make to provide the best guest experience.

With Valguard fully underway, we look forward to opening three bigger and better rides between now and summer 2027.

He adds: “The introduction of inversions and a vertical lifting hill at Dragon will certainly raise the adrenaline levels at Paltons Park, but staying true to our roots we haven’t forgotten the little ones, and there’s something for all the family in our new Viking Village.”

Known as the home of Peppa Pig World, Paltons Park has a collection of over 80 family rides and attractions across six themed worlds.
