People who are constantly distracted by their phones at work only if they do not use other ways to delay

Researchers said this week may not have a good enough strategy to stop the delay.

While limited access to smartphones leads to reduced use, participants in a recent study have recently moved their focus to another device.

“The study shows that removing smartphones may not be sufficient to reduce the disorder or increase focus,” said Dr. Maxi Hitmire, a researcher at the London Faculty of Economics. “The problem is not rooted in the device itself, but in the habits and routines we have created with our devices.”

Heitmayer is the author of this study published in the journal Borders in computer scienceHuman

The small experiment consisted of 22 participants living in London, working or studying. The majority was known as a woman and was between 22 and 31.

They were asked to work in a private, anti -sound room for two days and bring the devices that usually have to work with. Noteworthy, they made no changes to their notification settings.

In one experiment, phones were placed directly on the participants’ desks. On the other hand, the phone on a separate table was about five feet away. When the phone was farther, the researchers found that it was less used, but attention was changed only to the laptop.

Heitmayer noted: “This is your relationship with loved ones and with work. This is a navigation system, alarm clock, music player and information source. Surprisingly, people go to the tool that does everything.” “Even if you don’t have a specific purpose, you know that your social has and can provide entertainment.”

There are things that people can do to combat disorders. They can adjust their notifications to reach certain times. They can silence their phones.

But, the stretch is very strong – especially with the charm of social media programs. According to a 2023 study of studies, more than 40 percent of Americans admit that they are addicted to their phones.

Heitmayer explained: “There is a very unequal battle that is done every day by each of us when using your phones.”

“The things that are inside the phones that are the largest sinks are created by large companies that benefit much from our lack of resistance to their temptation; all of this is literally design,” he said.
