For the women’s competition, which opened in 2022, it will be only the second largest overseas after Rotterdam last year.

Chrisian Prudhomme, general manager of the French Tour, said: “The Tour two France and Britain share rich history, and I am happy to bring the Grand Depart to the country in 2027. England has always welcomed the tour with enthusiasm and pride, and this is even more likely to create this event.”

Planned routes for both great departments are revealed in the fall.

“The return of the French Tour to England is an exciting moment for cycling in the UK,” said John Dutton, the British Cycling Executive Director. Hosting the men’s and women’s competitions will be the first, and we believe that this will make more people to discover the happiness and benefits of cycling.

The 2014 route traveled from Leeds to Hargate on the first day, with the second stage from York to Sheffield and a final match from Cambridge to London before moving to France. The tour often passes through neighboring countries during the race, often starting overseas, and version 2023 begins in Bilbao, the 2024 race begins in Florence and begins in Barcelona the following year, followed by two stages in Traragona and Granules.
