UK Amazon has committed to working harder to deal with fake investigations


Amazon has promised to work harder to deal with fake investigations on his site after investigating the competition.

The retail giant has pledged to quickly identify and eliminate “strong processes” to quickly identify and remove fake investigations alongside sanctions for sellers and rebellious jobs as part of the business of competition and markets (CMA) to inhibit customer risk.

Amazon has also pledged to address concerns about “catalog abuse”, where vendors kidnap the good products and add them to a completely separate and different product to increase the star’s rating.

Amazon has agreed to boycott jobs that increase their star rankings through fake reviews or catalog abuse, including banning sales on the website.

Sanctions are also applied to users who send fake reviews, which can be prohibited from submitting reviews in general.

The site has also promised to provide clear and strong mechanisms to allow consumers and jobs to quickly and easily report the catalogs.

CMA estimates that about 90 % of consumers use reviews when deciding on shopping and is potentially affected by annual online reviews.

Fake investigations are now explicitly banned under digital markets, competition law and consumer (DMCA).

Amazon’s obligations in January of Google pursues its processes to deal with fake investigations, including punishment for repeated offenders.

“Many people use Amazon, from buying a new bike lock to finding the best coffee machine – and what is clear is that star ratings and reviews have a huge impact on their choice,” said CMA CEO Sara Cardel.

“That’s why these new commitments are important and helpful to determine the standard. They mean that people can make more confidence – knowing that those looking for wool from their eyes are rapidly examined.”

The CMA will now review whether the review operating systems, the jobs that list the products on them, and the referees themselves are in accordance with reinforced rules on fake investigations.

“We are investing significant resources to prevent fake investigations that have appeared in our store so far, including human expert researchers and machine learning models that analyze thousands of data points to identify the risk,” a spokesman for Amazon said.

“Last year we blocked more than 275 million fake reviews, with more than 99 % of all products available in our store only contain valid reviews,” he said.

“We also prohibit, ban and act against those who violate our policies, and have devoted teams to act against bad actors who are trying to provide fake investigations for products.”
