Leadel for creating more than 500 new jobs across the UK as part of its remarkable £ 435m investment in its logistics infrastructure, which includes the completion of a large expansion on the London site and the start of construction in a new warehouse in Leeds.
The German supermarket chain confirmed £ 285m on its Beloveree warehouse in London, which included construction of the second building and effectively tripled the site’s capacity.
These expanded facilities are expected to fully operate 120 stores once. At the same time, Leadel has started working on a new £ 150m warehouse in Leeds.
These developments are expected to create more than 500 new roles, with 120 positions in London and 400 in Leeds.
According to Kantar data, the move emphasizes that the continuation of Leadel’s rapid growth in the British food market, where it is currently the country’s sixth largest chain.
The proximity is close to the Morrison rival in the rankings.
The retailer has more than 980 stores and 14 distribution centers in the UK, Scotland and Wales – as well as thousands of countries across Europe.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves said that Lidel’s investment in warehouses was a “confidence vote” in England.
“This investment is a strong confidence in the British economy, and Leadel’s commitment to new facilities in London and Leeds open hundreds of new jobs, enhances supply chains, and ensures that families can access quality and quality food,” he said.
Richard Taylor, Leidel’s Real Estate Chief Executive Officer, said the chain is “proud to play our role in economic growth.”
Among Britain’s largest retailers hosts, Leidel warned Ms. Reeves to sign a letter that the fall in the fall budget could be inconsistent with her plans to improve British life standards.
The letter, which was sent by the British retail consortium, said that “attracting cost pressure we are facing” has become more and more challenging for us.
The Treasury responded by saying that the “government is pro -business” responded.
